What many people unfamiliar with the Queen City may not realize is the natural beauty of the Cincinnati area. As the point where two glaciers met, the city is almost as hilly as San Francisco. The “seven hills” which led to Cincinnati’s name – a comparison with the seven hills of Rome and the Roman folk hero, Cincinnatus – give many parts of the city epic, panoramic views across the river.

Those seven hills go from the west bank of the Ohio River to the east bank: Mount Adams, Mount Auburn, Mount Harrison, Walnut Hills, Vine Street Hill, College Hill, and Fairmount.

There is some debate as to which hills constitute the seven hills, actually. Some people list Mount Healthy, Mount Lookout, Mount Storm, and Mount Washington. Others mention Price Hill, Mount Echo, or Mount Airy.

We will let that conversation continue elsewhere, but rest assured that Cincinnati is a gem of Midwestern charm and European sophistication, nestling in the rolling hills of the Miami Valley. And we hope that the cafés in Cincinnati charm and delight you – particularly our beloved home and business, the Simply Grand Café.

Our café is in the lobby of the Great American Tower, across from the Great American Ballpark in downtown Cincinnati Ohio. You can enter our doors at 3rd and Sycamore, and we are open from 7am until 3pm every weekday.
